What people ask, and the answers.

Where is The Maria?

The Maria is at 13631 Puritan St, Detroit, MI 48227, on Puritan just east of Schaefer, across the street from James H. Cole Home for Funerals at 16100 Schaefer Highway.

Can we livestream the gathering?

Yes. Livestreaming is available in both the banquet hall and the small chapel. Ask the office when you book.

Do you provide the food?

Yes. The meal comes through us and is priced per person, by the menu and the count. You deal only with The Maria.

Can we bring our own food or our own caterer?

The meal comes through us, priced by the menu you choose and the count. If your family has a caterer you would rather use, ask the office. We can usually make it work.

What does it cost?

One facility rate rents the room and covers the rental, the cleanup, and security. The food is per person, priced by the menu and the count. The minimum is 50 guests. The office quotes both numbers once it knows the date, the count, and the menu.

How long do we have the room?

A booking is 4 hours.

How do we book?

Ask about a date, by phone or through the form on the site. Every date is a request, and the office confirms it. There is no online booking.

Do you host anything other than repasts?

Yes. Birthdays and anniversaries, showers, church and community meetings, corporate meetings and retirement dinners, and small weddings and receptions.

Do we have to use James H. Cole to book the room?

No. The Maria is open to any family, from any funeral home or any church, and to anyone booking a birthday, a shower, a meeting, or a wedding.

Are there dietary or religious accommodations?

Tell the office what your family needs when you call and it is arranged before you arrive.

Not here? Ask the office. Somebody answers.
